1. Do I have to live in the 14th Ward to join the league?
No. In fact, most of us have no idea where we'd even find the 14th Ward. Our players come from all over the city of Pittsburgh and are strongly represented by all of the East End neighborhoods.
2. Does my child need previous baseball experience?
Nope, definitely not. We are proud to be a community baseball league with all sorts of different ability levels. Our focus is on fun, friends, and fundamentals ... with a little baseball on the side.
3. Can girls play?
Yes! Our league is co-ed and we encourage girls to play.
4. Where do we play?
Our primary fields are in Frick Park near the corner of Forbes and Braddock. However, we also play on fields like Highland Park's Farmhouse Field and Squirrel Hill's Wightman Park.
5. When are the seasons?
Our Spring season typically runs from early April through early June. And our Fall season typically runs from late August through early October.
6. Are you a part of any national baseball organizations?
Yes! 14th Ward is affiliated with the Babe Ruth Cal Ripken program. Being a part of this national baseball organization insures 14th Ward maintains the highest standards for youth baseball, provides training for our coaches and structures for our Board, excellent insurance, and the opportunity for our players to compete in the tournament trail State and National Tournaments.
7. Is 14th Ward non-profit?
Yes! We are a 501(c)(3) organization committed to creating the finest volunteer led, community baseball program in Pittsburgh! Come be part of the fun!
8. What does 14W logo stand for?
The 14W on our logo simply stands for 14th Ward. 14w Baseball, or 14th Ward Baseball, is simply East End Pittsburgh Baseball and anyone and everyone is welcome.
